We're taking it to court.
The charge: too scary, too loud, too undefinable.
The accusation: definitely a monster.
Is it really that simple?

A performer with crutches sits on a chair in a spotlight and looks upward, a drum kit and a cloud-patterned curtain in the dark behind.

In a relaxed performance, the inclusive ensemble of Klabauter Theater, together with students from Stadtteilschule Am Hafen, explores what happens when things are not clearly good or evil, beautiful or ugly—and perhaps never were.

Three performers stand behind a railing on a raised stage; the one in the middle wears a red cape in front of a wall of light bulbs framed by red curtains.
Three performers stand on stage in front of cloud-patterned curtains, with a drum kit behind them and a musician at a silver table to the left.

When is someone a monster? Which demons drive us? Together, they search for spaces of togetherness and transform the present into a future that invites rather than excludes.

Under blue light, performers in white wing and flower costumes gather behind a long wave of white fabric.

Demons and Monsters is the first part of the three-year trilogy metaMorph – complete transformation by bright future kollektiv, in which theatre is reimagined as a laboratory for social coexistence: installation-based, participatory, inclusive.

  • Seen past a person wearing headphones, a lit make-up mirror reflects two performers, one holding a microphone.
  • At a table with lit make-up mirrors, a young performer speaks into a microphone.
